U-recycle Initiative in collaboration with local and international organizations joined countries around the world to commemorate Global Recycling Day 2020. The purpose of the event was geared towards tackling the menace of poor waste management, through effective sensitization of the society about the importance of recycling and its potential benefits to our world. Whilst enlightening people about opportunities from which they can harness value from waste through recycling and how through REDUCING, REUSING and RECYCLING we can mitigate the impact of waste pollution on the environment, humans, planet, and aquatic biodiversity
In Global Recycling Day 2020, we were quite meticulous in choosing specific activities that would yield required results towards spurring Nigerians to begin recycling at home, work, etc. Our target audiences were mainly traders, passers-by on the streets of Lagos, and customers we engaged at a shopping mall.
From community sensitizations through our ’Let’s Recycle More Awareness Walk’ to launching our ‘Bring Your Own Bag Campaign’ at a shopping mall to highlighting the resourcefulness of waste through a Trashion Show at the National Stadium. With the participation and support from attendees, volunteers and organizations the event was enlightening, impactful, memorable, and exciting
