U-recycle Initiative awareness workshops are organized at schools to generally educate
students and teachers about recycling and other environmental sustainability topics. The aim of this workshop is to inspire and educate students to make positive commitments and take actions towards preserving the environment.

In the year 2019, U-recycle Initiative successfully hosted two workshops in two schools. On Wednesday 23rd January 2019, U-recycle’s first workshop was hosted at Queens College Lagos, having over 200 students in attendance including volunteers, guests and teachers.

Subsequently, our second workshop was held at Federal Science and Technical College Yaba Lagos in May 2019, having about 205 students in attendance with the participation of volunteers and teachers.

In our workshops, we highlight the basic concepts of recycling what is recycling, who should recycle, what can be recycled and why recycling is important. Students are enlightened on the process of starting a recycling system in their school, and are
giving detailed procedures to be taken to ensure the smooth running of a recycling system in their school. They also learn how their personal decisions and actions matter in preserving the environment and we encourage them to make pledges to the environment.

We have invited experts in the environmental field like Miss Doyinsola Ogunye of Kids Beach Garden and Miss Temilade Salami of Ecowarriors to enlighten participants on more cuttingedge topics like understanding how plastic pollution harm sea creatures and pollute oceans.

Most workshop participants, leave our workshop being more knowledgeable about recycling and plastic pollution, and they learn simple ways they can be a solution to pollution.
